In order to attain success as a writer of special feature articles, you must possess at least four qualifications:
(1) ability to find subjects that will interest the average man and woman, and to see the picturesque, romantic, and significant phases of these subjects;
As a single working mom/struggling writer I’m always looking for ways to save money. Many writers probably use the office printer and copier, or “borrow” the occasional legal pad or pen from the office supply cabinet from time to time. Here are some tips that really helped when I was sinking in quicksand financially:
Every time you pick up your favorite magazine you pour over it, looking through every article. By the time you are finished many of the pages are dog-eared and you’ve discovered that so many of the articles are in line with your own personal interests and writing style.
Writing a magazine article is different from writing a newspaper article. Magazine articles need relevance for a longer period than a newspaper article. It also needs research and statistics to confirm the information presented. In-depth interviews are also a part of many magazine articles.
“You are a writer?”
“Yes, I am.”
“Wow!”
Many people would say, “You’re fantastic!.” But some wouldn’t even dare to be a writer because people would say, “A writer would never get rich, and there is no money in writing, and maybe – some artists would die hungry.”
Advantages of an online magazine are many. If there is a list to work with you can start out full steam. However, if you do not have a list then it will be harder to get the magazine off the ground. You need a list to start with; otherwise whom will you mail it to?
